  1. Gatorade Free Flow Riders Continue to Rise Above

March 26, 2010 by Micah Stancil

Clay Kreiner, last year’s skateboarding vert winner of the Gatorade Free Flow Tour,

finished second overall in the Florida Bowl Riders Cup last weekend. On the first

day of the event at a secret location that featured a capsule pool connected to round

bowl with brick coping, Clay ripped his way to a second place finish just behind fellow

Gatorade Free Flow rider Dalton Dern, who recently placed fifth at the Tampa Am Vert

Contest. On the second day of competition Clay once again skated to another second

place finish in the Kona Bowl at the famous Kona Skatepark.

  3. Bowl Riders Cup Update!

    by Micah Stancil

Well another great year at bowl riders. Day 1 back yard bowl had a team rider make finials

in all three classes. Austin Cresman in Groms, Clay Kreiner in Am and Benji Galloway in the

Pro’s.  Austin ended up 5th, Clay 2nd and Benji finished out in 4th. Benji wasnt feeling well

and ended up not skating at Kona on day two.  Day 2 kona bowl again Austin and Clay both

made finials. Austin finished 6th and Clay once again finished 2nd. Big congrates two both

of you its really tuff to go down to FL and finish where you did in there back yard. After it

was all said and done Clay took 2nd place over all in the Am division and Austin took

5th over all in the grom. Heres a few pictures  for the contest.

When Clay Kreiner checked in, he was wearing a funny

looking hat like a baby Tyler Hendley. I expected he might

be taking part in the kickturn contest on the vert ramp. After

just a couple runs of seeing him skate, I was instantly reminded

of Danny Way’s barging onto the vert scene in his decades old

part in Ban This. Clay’s got a little bit of that style. He’s not quite

there with the super hard tricks yet, but he’s looking damn good

    on the U for sure.

Clay Kreiner’s airs like this contributed to my recollection of

Danny’s Ban This part. Now if he did varial into this and cracked

a back d, he would be on Frazier’s level.

Clay is looking good on ever wall. Now smack it to frontside

disaster and revert it like Frazier.

Big thanks to the Tampa crew! See you guys at Damn Am.

March 15, 2010 by Micah Stancil

Today I had the chance to meet two young boys thats a part of  the Children’s Security Blanket family.

The Children’s Security Blanket provides financial and emotional support to families of children

with cancer or other life threatening illnesses in Spartanburg County by assisting with lodging, food

and transportation costs incurred during treatment. Im a father of three and I cant imagine what it

must be like for these families to go through this with there children.  I want to say thank you to

everyone that has stepped up to the plate so far and has either donated there time, money or product.

Also big thanks to Security Blanket for taken on the responsibility of caring for these families.  Right

now they are helping and caring for 56 families in Spartanburg Co. Keep it coming guys and  please

contact me with any questions you may have.

  10. The Gene Stancil Skate For Cancer Benefit Contest

March 13, 2010 by Micah Stancil

Ever since my grandfather passed away with cancer I’ve wanted to do a benefit contest in his name.  On April 24, 2010 (rain date May 8th) The Coalition for Active Youth, and myself,  is partnering with Spartanburg Regional Foundation to put on a Skateboard  Benefit and Competition to help Children’s Security Blanket, a local non-profit organization which helps kids and their families with cancer. The Gene Stancil Skate For Cancer Benefit will be an all day event at the new Hot Spot Skate Park in Spartanburg, SC.  Skateboard contests, food, raffles , live music, and cash prizes will be offered to attract top skaters from the region.  Our major sponsor is Spartanburg Regional Foundation and Spartanburg Regional Hospital.  We are looking for more sponsors so if anyone would like to help sponsor the event or make a donation, you may email me at Celticsk8boards@aol.com for more information.  I’m working on the flyer now and will post it sometime this week with full details on the contest and prize money, but for now here’s a little information on the kids we’re helping.  Thanks to everyone in advance who plans on coming out and making this event successful.

These are just two of many children we have an opportunity to help through Children’s Security Blanket:

Tron Foster -  age 7 – bone cancer–lost half a femur and knee joint.   He is really outgoing and anyone who meets this young Super Hero will feel good.  He is in the first grade at Boiling Springs elementary.

James Campbell -  age 9 – eye cancer James was diagnosed when he was four years old.  He loves to play baseball and made all star last year with one eye.  He lives in Lyman, SC.
